Press Release: Britt Penrod, Winner of Writer Film Grant Announced
The Roy W. Dean Foundation announced this year's recipient of their coveted ROY W.DEAN Writers Grant is writer/director Britt Penrod for his penned dramatic feature "Amateur Night", detailing the sexual expressions, abuses, and subsequent predators that live within the same small community of friends and family.

Judges of the annual international competition selected Penrod's project after three qualifying rounds of deliberation and have arranged, among other things, an extended stay in New Zealand in the Foundation's Wye Cottage for the purpose of completing the final draft of the script.  All accommodations and amenities on the south island are provided by the Roy W. Dean Foundation.   In an open letter to the foundation Britt Penrod stated "I have reviewed From The Heart Productions website on previous winners and cannot help but conclude that this award is as much a commission as it is an honor."

The Dean family has been making funds and resources available to filmmakers for 25 years, growing in size and scope to include competitive international grants for writing/research, filming, editing, and nationwide industry seminars for fledgling artists under the direction of Carole Dean. The mission statement of the grants is to assist filmmakers in the creation of projects that have the greatest potential to provide a positive benefit to society.  This marks the first year a commercial feature project has been selected among numerous worthy documentary and feature script proposals.
